The Academy

Valley Forge Military Academy is an all-male college preparatory school that enrolls approximately 300 cadets in grades seven through postgraduate. Students benefit from a comprehensive education that encompasses a strong academic program, leadership opportunities, character development, athletic competition and physical fitness, extracurricular activities, and social interaction with a diverse group of peers. When cadets leave the Academy, they are poised for success.

Starting in September 2007, Valley Forge Military Academy expanded its tradition of global academic and leadership excellence to the local area by offering the Valley Forge Military Academy Day School Program in both the Middle School and Upper School.

Designed for young men in grades 7-12, the VFMA Day School Program provides the same unique blend of academic, personal, and leadership education. Now local young men will have the same opportunities to transform themselves and unleash their full potential like the Valley Forge cadets enrolled in the boarding program.

To the fullest extent possible, the experiences of the Day School cadets mirror that of Valley Forge Military Academy’s boarding cadets focusing on developing the Whole Person and Valley Forge’s Five Cornerstones of Academic Excellence, Character Development, Personal Motivation, Physical Development and Leadership.

All Day Cadets are expected to complete the six week plebe system. Plebes will be fully integrated in their unit and will not be singled out or identified in any way.

VFMA Day Cadets are assigned to units throughout the Corps.  First year cadets are not eligible for leadership billets, but may be selected for leadership detail in their second year.  Each cadet is assigned a barracks room containing a desk for studying and a locker/wardrobe to assist cadets in stowing clothing or equipment. VFD Cadets is responsible for keeping their rooms to cadet standards, and the room is considered their home away from home.

Successful after-school experiences of the Day Cadets are essential to the success of the Day Program.  As such, they are expected to participate in all activities their boarding counterparts participate in, to include: interscholastic sports, intramural sports, clubs, drill, tours, physical training, band, choir and the like.

Contact the VFMA Office of Admission at 1-800-234-VFMA or 610-989-1300 if you would like to enroll or learn more about this program.

The Academy is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. It holds memberships in the Association of Military Colleges and Schools of the United States (AMCSUS), the Council for Religion in Independent Schools, The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS), the Boarding School Headmasters' Association, and the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).
