Bradley, 1LT Kevin
            Mathematics

Conroy, COL Terry
            English
COL Conroy is in his 23rd year at VF. Prior to working at Valley Forge he taught for ten years in public and catholic schools. COL Conroy was in the Air Force from 1967-71. He is a graduate of Creighton University with a BA in English and Physical Education. He has his private school certification in both areas.

COL Conroy is also the Head Basketball Coach for the Academy. He has coached the varsity basketball team since 1984. He was also the assistant baseball coach from 1984-96.

Cupo, COL Gerry
            Middle School/Science
COL Gerry Cupo earned his B.S. at Eastern University, certified in Biology. He teachs Life Science to cadets in 8th grade; Earth Science and language Arts to 7th graders. He is also Director of Character Education for the Middle School and Director of CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) for VFMA& C. He has spent 30 years teaching at VFMA&C.

Athletics are very important to COL Cupo. He developed a Middle School Intramural program and has been directing the program for 16 years. He has also been the Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach for the last 26 years.

He belong to the following professional organizations:  National Science Teachers Association; American Baseball Coaches Association; and a member of the Norman Vincent Peale Center for Positive Thinkers.

During his time at VFMA&C he has received the following awards: Excellence in Teaching Award (2); President's Certificate of Appreciation, and the Order of Anthony Wayne.

His family includes his wife, Barbara, daughters Mary Kelly, Christina Garcia, Jennifer Caliri, son Gerald Jr. and five grandchildren, Bobby, Danny, Joey, Noah, and Rachel.

In his spare time he plays shortstop and pitch in the Men's Senior Baseball League; works as American Red Cross Life Guard and Swimming Director for 3 to 5 year olds at Germantown Academy Summer Programs; and serves as Extraordinary Minister at St. Katharine’s Parish and a Core Leader of St. Katharine’s Prayer group.

Escotto, 1LT Cristina
            Foreign Language
1LT Cristina Escotto is a Spanish Instructor in the Academy and Vice-chair of the Foreign Language Department.

This is her second year teaching Spanish 1 & 2 at VFMA&C, but she has been teaching for almost 17 years, both Spanish and ESL.

1LT Escotto graduated in Linguistics and received her Master’s Degree at Universidad Complutense- Madrid (Spain), and is also Certified Translator by the same University (English- Spanish).

1LT Escotto is married and has a 15 month daughter.  She enjoys tea, dancing, reading and playing with her daughter.

Flood, LTC Victoria
            Mathematics
LTC Vicki Flood teaches Geometry, Algebra 1, and Pre- Algebra in the Academy. She has been a teacher at VFMA for 8 years. This is her forty-sixth year of teaching. LTC Flood previously taught in the Philadelphia Public Schools for 30 years and in Ardiocese of Philadelphia for 8 years.

LTC Flood has a BS and MA from Villanova University and has Pennsylvania Certification in Mathematics.

Ford, CPT John
            Mathematics
Teaches grades 11&12, and has been teaching at VFMA for five years, and in the profession for seven.  He has a BS from United States Military Academy, and a M.Ed. from Widener University.

CPT Ford is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). He advises academy and college students in preparation for entrance into any of the federal service academies. He also collects and maintains data for student retention and quality of life. His research interest is post-secondary, developmental math. He is married and has one son.

Johnson, LTC Walter
            Science
LTC Walter Johnson is a Teacher of Science, spending 14 years working for public schools, and 22 years at Valley Forge Military Academy & College. He earned his B.A., Science Education from Farleigh Dickenson University, and Rowan University, and his A.A. from the Antonelli School of Photography.

LTC Johnson teaches Environmental Science and General Science. He is involved in the Chess Club at VFMA&C.

He enjoys camping and exploring National Parks and the State Parks in the United States and Canada.

Klein, COL Rudy
            Physical Education
COL Rudy Klein earned his BS Degree from Lock Haven State College, Instructional II Health & Physical Education Instructor in grades K-12.  He is also a Certified American Red Cross Instructor; Lay Responder, FA, CPR, AED and a certified athletic coach.

He has been teaching at Valley Forge Military Academy for 25 years.  COL Klein also coaches Cross Country, Indoor Track & Field, Outdoor Track & Field for Valley Forge. 

He is a member of the Pennsylvania State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, Inc., Greater Philadelphia Track & Field Coaches Association and Member Board of Directors, Delaware County Track & Field Coaches Association and the USA Track & Field Coaches Association

During his 25 years at VFMA&C, COL Klein has received the President’s Gold Star Award, the Excellence in Teaching Award and the Order of Anthony Wayne.

Muldowney, COL Charlie
            Arts / History
COL Charlie Muldowney is an Associate Professor of English and Fine Art who teaches Art and World Religions to cadets in grades seven through postgraduate.

COL Muldowney has been teaching at VFMA for 24 years and has been in the teaching profession for 28 years.

He earned his BFA at Philadelphia College of Art, his MFA from The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.  Over the years he has exhibited his work at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Museum, Phil., The Museum of History and Art, SLC, The Museum of Art at BYU, Villanova University Gallery and Cabrini College Gallery.

COL Muldowney is married with 12 children.

Pachella, MAJ Michael
            Middle School
MAJ Michael Pachella is a 1984 graduate from Slippery Rock University with a B.A. in Sociology, and a 1995 graduate from West Chester University - PA. He has his teaching certification in Secondary Ed/Social Studies.

MAJ Pachella has been working at Valley Forg eMilitary Academy & College since 1996. He is a Middle School Instructor of Civics and Geography, the
Middle School soccer coach and the Academy J.V. baseball coach.

Roedler, LTC Jody
            Middle School
COL Roedler has been a member of the VFMA&C faculty for 26 years. She currently teaches math and language arts in the middle school. She is involved in supporting the middle school cadets in their athletic activities and is sponsor of the middle school games club. COL Roedler is a summa cum laude graduate of Temple University with a B.S. in education and holds a Pennsylvania state teaching certificate.

Temperton, COL Lee
            Mathematics
Col. Temperton began his career in teaching in March 1970 at Valley Forge as a Math instructor.  From 8/71 to 4/73 he served on active duty in the Army in a Scientific and Engineering position stationed in Arizona.  In 9/73 he returned to Valley Forge as an instructor of Math.  From 1979-1980 he taught at Bishop Luden High School in Syracuse, N.Y. returning to Valley Forge in September 1980 to become the Finance Officer until September 1993 when he returned as an instructor of Math. 

He is currently the Chairman of the Department of Mathematics.  He has been awarded a number of honors to include the Order of Anthony Wayne, the Graduates’ Award, and the Excellence in Teaching Award.  Col. Temperton studied at Eastern College for his B.A. and West Chester University for his Masters.  He has also attended Syracuse University and Cortland University.  He holds certification in Mathematics K-12 in the states of PA, NY, and FL. 

Col. Temperton is married and his wife, Jill, has worked at Valley Forge and currently is employed at Radnor High School.  They have two children, Richard and Judy.  Richard is married to Nicole and he is in the Coast Guard currently stationed in Oregon.  Judy is married to Andy and they have one child, Owen.  Judy is a Registered Nurse at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Tynan, MAJ Timothy
            History
MAJ. Timothy Tynan is an Associate Professor who teaches U.S. History, European History, and World War II History for 11th and 12th grades.  He has served at Valley Forge for over 20 years and teaching for the last seven years.  Additionally, he supervises the Political Action Club and Close Up program.

MAJ. Tynan earned a BA from Penn. State University and MA from Providence College.

Walker, 1LT Kate
            English

Wilson, COL David
            Mathematics, Department Chairman
David Wilson is currently in his twenty-sixth year on the Valley Forge faculty. He is a former Chair of the Department of Mathematics, a position he held for twenty years, and currently teaches primarily algebra and geometry.

Intimately involved with the school’s athletic programs, he serves in various capacities with many of the teams. He was inducted into the Valley Forge Athletic Hall of Fame in October of 2006. He has been awarded the school’s Excellence in Teaching Award on two occasions. He has been the recipient of the President’s Gold Star several times, as well as the Alumni Association’s Washington Award.
