JROTC
All Academy cadets participate in Junior ROTC - a citizen and leadership development program
created by the National Defense Act of 1916.
Through JROTC, retired U.S. Army personnel provide leadership training that emphasizes
decision-making, problem solving, teamwork, responsibility, communication, and values. JROTC includes the following courses:
- leadership,
- citizenship,
- first aid,
- map reading,
- American military history,
- techniques of communication,
- marksmanship,
- drug abuse prevention,
- career opportunities, and
- technology awareness.
At Valley Forge, JROTC offers:
- a varsity Drill Team
- a varsity Rifle Team
- a Raider Challenge Team
- an Orienteering Club
- community service at Southeastern PA Veteran's Center in Spring City, PA
- a one-week summer camp in June at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, PA
Adventure training activities are also included in the JROTC program:
- low ropes course
- high ropes course
- rappel tower
- climbing wall
