Academy Admissions Application Process
The following information is provided to assist you with the application process.
Please call the Admissions Office at 800-234-VFMA (8362) with any questions.
Application Requirements: Applications are welcomed from young men in mainstreamed classes who have demonstrated good citizenship and who are motivated to become cadets. Applicants should be physically fit and free from any factors that could limit their full participation in cadet life. All applications are screened by Admissions upon receipt in order to ensure that they are competitive and also by the medical and counseling staff because some conditions cannot be supported at Valley Forge.
Application Process: The submission of a completed Valley Forge application form with payment of the non-refundable $100 application fee is required to be classified as an applicant. Upon receipt of an application, transcripts and teacher evaluations will be requested from the applicant's school. Detailed information on medical conditions and treatments must be provided by the appropriate physician. A decision cannot be rendered until the applicant file is complete. Please follow these procedures carefully:
Applicant Visit and Tour: All candidates must
schedule an applicant visit and tour of the campus. Applicant visits are held on an
appointment basis Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. When necessary,
applicant visits may schedule a visit on Saturday by appointment. Because VFMA is best
understood when classes are in session, we encourage families to visit during a week day. While daily visits are encouraged, large Campus Visitations are available for those
wanting learn more about the opportunities at VFMA.
Testing: All VFMA&C applicants must submit their most recent standardized test scores administered by their school or state. Applicants can submit SSAT (Secondary School Admissions Test) or ISEE (Independent Schools Entrance Exam.) International applicants must submit either TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or SLEP (Secondary Level English Proficiency) scores.
Medical:
Medications: The prescribing physician must
supply written verification on letterhead stationery of the type, dosage,
and reason for all medications taken.
Psychiatrist/psychologist: Applicants who have seen a
psychologist or psychiatrist will be provided with a detailed questionnaire
to be completed and returned by the health care provider.
Physicals: All students are required to have a
recent (after 1 June 2008) physical examination, completed by a physician
and submitted to our Health Center prior to arrival at Valley Forge.
The
physical form will be sent with the Reporting Orders after the student is
notified of acceptance. All immunizations must be updated and records submitted
with the physical exam.
Application Deadline: Valley Forge Military Academy is still accepting applications for the Fall 2008 semester.
Formal Decision: Your Admissions
Officer will keep you informed of the status of your applicant file. Once
it is complete, he will assign his overall recommendation and submit it to
the Admissions Committee for a decision. You will be notified in writing
of this decision.
Acceptance and Tuition Deposit: Once
you have received written notification of acceptance, you must submit a Validation
Fee of $500 payable to VFMA to reserve as space in the incoming class. This
payment, credited toward the cost of tuition, verifies your intent to matriculate.
Wait List: In the event of
enrollment beyond the accommodation capacity of the barracks, a waiting
list will be established, based upon validation fee deposit date.
Payment: 100% of the cost of school
is due prior to arrival. Please consult the Billing and Payment Policies handout for complete billing and payment information.
Please contact the Admissions Office at (800) 234-VFMA if you have any questions.
