Dear VFMA&C Community,
Every year, both Alumni and Parents Weekends are highlights of the spring semester
and this year was no exception. As always, it was wonderful to see so many family
members and friends of the Forge come back to campus. A big thank you goes out to
Ginny Frantz and the Alumni Board of Directors as well as Lini Stevens and the
Parents Association for all of their hard work in making these two memorable
weekend traditions a success.
Yesterday we held both the SROTC Commissioning Ceremony as well as College
graduation. It was a gorgeous, yet very busy day as families gathered to
congratulate their cadets on these outstanding accomplishments.
I want to express how saddened the VF community is by the recent events at
Virginia Tech and I extend our deepest sympathies to everyone directly affected
by this tragedy. On the evening of April 26, our cadets coordinated a memorial
service to honor those killed at Virginia Tech. Cadets and faculty shared poems,
scripture readings and personal reflections. VFMA&C has in place a detailed
emergency plan that goes into effect in the event of natural disasters, fires
or any other threat to the safety of those on our campus. In light of the events
on April 16, we have reexamined and revised the plan where necessary in order
to ensure that VFMA&C is the safest environment possible for our cadets, staff,
faculty and visitors to our campus. As always, if you have any questions or concerns
regarding the safety of our campus, please don’t hesitate to call me.
On a lighter note, next up we have our Academy Middle School and Upper School
graduation ceremonies on Saturday, June 2. Let it be a time of happiness and
excitement as we celebrate the achievements of our many talented young men.
I would like to wish our departing cadets from both the Academy and the College
a safe and relaxing summer and I look forward to seeing many of you back here in
the fall.
Sincerely,
Charles A. McGeorge President, VFMA&C

Day School Announcement
Starting in September 2007, Valley Forge Military Academy will expand its tradition of global academic and leadership excellence to the local area by offering the Valley Forge Military Academy Day School Program in both the Middle School and Upper School.
Designed for young men in grades 7-12, the VFMA Day School Program will provide the same unique blend of academic, personal, and leadership education. Now local young men will have the same opportunities to transform themselves and unleash their full potential like the Valley Forge cadets enrolled in the boarding program.
To the fullest extent possible, the experiences of the Day School cadets will mirror that of Valley Forge Military Academy’s Boarding Cadets focusing on developing the Whole Person and Valley Forge’s Five Cornerstones of Academic Excellence, Character Development, Personal Motivation, Physical Development and Leadership.
All Day Cadets will be expected to complete the six week plebe system. Plebes will be fully integrated in their unit and will not be singled out or identified in any way.
VFMA Day Cadets will be assigned to units throughout the Corps. First year cadets are not eligible for leadership billets, but may be selected for leadership detail in their second year. Each cadet will be assigned a barracks room containing a desk for studying and a locker/wardrobe to assist cadets in stowing clothing or equipment. Day Cadets will be responsible for keeping their rooms to cadet standards, and the room will be considered their home away from home.
Successful after-school experiences of the Day Cadets are essential to the success of the Day Program. As such, they will be expected to participate in all activities their Boarding counterparts participate in, to include: interscholastic sports, intramural sports, clubs, drill, tours, physical training, vespers, choir and the like.
Details of the VFMA Day School Program are still being coordinated. We will continue to update our constituents with our progress as we move forward with the plans.
If you know a local young man who would benefit from a Valley Forge Military Academy education, please contact the VFMA Office of Admission at 1-800-234-VFMA or 610-989-1300. Or visit the online inquiry and application page of our website. http://www.vfmac.edu/admissions_applications.html

The formal dedication of Hocker Hall was held on Sunday, May 6, 2007. The dedication ceremony began at 10 AM in front of Hocker Hall with a ceremonial ribbon cutting and tour of the newly renovated, state of the art barracks. At the 11 AM Chapel Service, the Order of Marquis de Lafayette was presented to Richard (’64) and Marcia Hocker thanking them for their generosity and their support of Valley Forge Military Academy & College.
Generations of cadets who will live in Hocker Hall will owe an immense debt of gratitude to Richard and Marcia Hocker for leading the cause, and to Dix Jarden ’42C, Kent McNew ’61C and Michael Nolen ’66 for their overwhelming generosity. The names of the many other donors who helped make this renovation become a reality can be found on the sign displayed inside the entrance to Hocker Hall. We are truly grateful to you all for your generosity to VFMA&C.

"Past in Review" Available on Disc
On the eve of the 80th Corps of Cadets, the Alumni Association wishes to release again, and now on DVD, "THE PAST IN REVIEW". Through the generosity of two alumni,
this will be at absolutely no cost and will be post-paid to you. First produced in 1987,
this is a narrated compilation of all films acquired from the first 40 years of VFMA&C.
This 107 min. documentary begins with a stroll through the fire ruins at Devon, PA, and continues through most of the Baker years at the present site in Wayne through 1968, conditionally the mid-point of our history. Narration is by LTG Milton H. Medenbach, ’41H, and BG Alfred A. Sanelli, ’39, both then active but now recently deceased. The stereo musical underscore is completely from the recorded works of the Valley Forge Band under the direction of the late COL D. Keith Feltham, ’90H.

New VFMA&C March Named "Centurion"
VFMA&C held an employee contest to name a new march that was composed by
Bandmaster WO2 Phil Evans, RM (Ret). The winner of the "Name the Valley Forge March"
contest is CPT Chris Vaughn ’99! The new Valley Forge march will be named "Centurion".
The title honors a focal point of our community life; The Alumni Memorial Chapel of St.
Cornelius the Centurion.
The march was composed for the school over Easter break by WO2
Evans. WO2 Evans knew the school didn’t have a march so he put pen to paper
and came up with a few ideas. His piece honors both the American and English VFMA&C
heritage in the three main tunes and two different time feels. Centurion is
approximately 3 minutes 30 seconds in duration.
WO2 Evans says, "I feel the title is very fitting to the march and I am very proud
to have it as the Regimental March of Valley Forge."
Centurion had its debut at the Spring Concert on Friday, May 11.
Please congratulate WO2 Phil Evans on his hard work for VF and Chris Vaughn ’99
for his naming of the march!

Road Closure Announcement
Eagle Road, between King of Prussia Road and Radnor Street Road, has been under construction since March 19 in order to install a new water main and will remain so until July 2007. Work hours will be from 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Most of the construction is complete however, from King of Prussia Road to Radnor Street Road, there is still some construction.
To avoid that just go through the town of Wayne following Route 30 west and turn right on North Wayne Avenue. Go through 2 traffic lights. At the 3rd traffic light make a right on Eagle Road. Radnor Street Road is at the first traffic light. Turn left for the General Parking Lot, or continue straight on Eagle Road to Gates E2, E3, E4 and E5 to Kuncl Lot for Cadet Drop Off and Pick Up.
You may still access the VFMA&C campus from Upper Gulph Road to Radnor Street Road; construction will not affect this area.

What Difference Can One Summer Make?
Our summer camps not only feature exceptional experiences that will become the talk
of the neighborhood, they offer something more: a unique setting where boys and girls
are introduced to lifelong values like integrity, teamwork and leadership. Our day camp
is available to boys and girls ages 6-13, an all-male overnight adventure camp for boys
8-13 and the co-ed overnight Ranger Fitness Training program designed for high school
boys and girls age 14-17. Most summers come and go. Give your child one that will
