Parents may call the camper’s barracks to speak with the Commandant and hear how their child is doing. In addition, campers are permitted to call home during free time by asking permission of their counselor. If the camper has a cell phone, he or she will be permitted to use it only during designated times.
We maintain a “weekend open camp” policy at VFMA&C Summer Camp. This means that parents are permitted to come and visit their campers at any time Friday, Saturday and Sunday. However, we do ask that you follow the rules below:
- Please call ahead to make sure that your camper in not on a field trip.
- You must sign your camper in and out through the camp office. Suggested time for visit and picking-up campers for the weekend are 12:00pm on Friday to 8:00pm Sunday. Any time you wish to visit your camper or take out of camp, please bring your ID. This is to ensure the safety of your child and make sure they do not leave with anyone who is unauthorized for pick-up.
- Meal times may be best times for visits, ensuring your camper won’t miss out on any of the activities! Second mess is from Noon-1:00pm; Third mess is from 6-7:00pm
