Accepted Student Checklist

Congratulations on your acceptance to Valley Forge Military College!

This is an exciting time for you. The information contained here will provide you with the the next steps, including how to let us know you’re coming, making your tuition deposit, what to bring to campus, new student orientation, and other key information to complete before you arrive.

Accepted Student Checklist

Now that you’ve been accepted, it’s time to take the next step to becoming part of The Forge and our Continental Line. Please be sure to submit all information listed below prior to your August move-in date to ensure you can move-in as easily and smoothly as possible.

Are You Coming?

You have received your acceptance letter, now we need to know if you’re coming. The next step is to submit your non-refundable deposit of $500. Submitting your deposit secures your spot for the upcoming term and will be applied to student’s tuition. Once you deposit, we will be able to provide you with your academic schedule. In the event you have decided not to attend and are declining our offer of admission, please notify us via email at admissions_college@vfmac.edu

To make your non-refundable deposit, secure your spot, and have access to your schedule:

  • Pay online with e-check or a credit card
  • Pay via wire transfer – contact the Business Office at 610-989-1230 for routing information.
  • Pay via personal check
    Checks or money order need to be mailed to:

Billing and Payment Contract
  • Complete and sign the Billing and Payment document and return to College Admissions at the address above.
  • Valley Forge does offer payment plans, complete details are provided within the document. This service is provided through Higher Education Services and requires a small annual application fee. Contact HES at 1-800-422-0010 or visit their web-site at www.highereducationservices.org.
Access Your Student Portal
  • Access your student schedule via the portal. To access your portal you will use your user id also known as your netID. This will be sent to you via e-mail after your deposit has been received.
  • Each student is assigned a user id also known as a netID to provide access to various Valley Forge systems, including e-mail and access to our Moodle learning management system. It is critical to your student success that you check your Valley Forge email account. Important communication for your courses, from your faculty, your academic advisor, and others will be sent to your Valley Forge account and you are responsible for this information.
  • Your “e-student” portal is your gateway to reviewing your academic schedule, booklist, and access to our Moodle Course Management System. Your default password is your date of birth, in MMDDYYYY format. Be sure to include leading zeroes e.g. 06081995
  • Review and purchase your books. Your book list for each course is found through the portal.
  • You can purchase your books via our Cadet Store, Amazon.com, BN.com, or other sites, provided the book is the same edition as that specified by your instructor.
  • Textbook information for your courses will be available via your Student Portal!
    HOW TO ACCESS:
    Log in the student portal – your login credentials will be sent via email
    Look for “My Courses” on the right side
    Click on the course title
    Under Course Information Section you will see Textbooks link
    Click on the link to obtain the information (ISBN number) for the course texts
View Your Class Schedule Online

Once we have received your deposit, you can access your student schedule, here’s how:

  • Log in the student portal estudent.vfmac.edu
  • Use your login and password provided via e-mail
  • Verify Term
    • CURRENT TERM (located under your name) should indicate FA-16: this will allow you to access your schedule for Fall 2016.
    • If your term does not indicate FA-16, please click “change” located next to TERM and choose FA-16 from the drop down menu.
  • COURSES: Can be viewed on right hand side of main student portal page. This provides the you with the course titles.
  • To View Your Schedule:
    • Under the “Administrative Services” heading, select “My Schedule.”
    • “My Schedule” provides you with details as to the course title, course ID, course credits and the days and times for each class meeting. This version is printable.
  • Book information for each of your classes is available through the student portal, via the “Registration” tab
  • Book information will be available by July 15
  • When ordering, please order by ISBN number to ensure you have the correct edition.
Complete Your Financial Aid Paperwork
  • Financial Aid (US Citizens Only) If you have not already completed your FAFSA form, File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • VFMC FAFSA Code is:003386
  • If your aid award calls for a Master Promissory Note, prior to your arrival on campus, you will need to complete the Master Promissory Note and entrance counseling. Follow the link to the left or visit http://www.studentloans.gov. Once at the site, click on the links on the left that indicates “Complete Counseling” and “Sign My promissory Note.” Please be sure to complete, prior to your August arrival.   • A FERPA waiver must be completed for the financial aid office to discuss financial aid options with anyone other than the student. To authorize a third party access please complete our Financial Aid FERPA Waiver.

Complete Mandatory Medical Paperwork
What to Bring
  • Be sure to bring the following items, these are essential:
  • A two (2) week supply of the following items:
    • Undergarments
    • Female Cadets should bring bras and sports bras, again a two week supply total is recommended.
    • White T–Shirts, quarter sleeve, crew neck
    • Black, crew length, athletic socks, without logos
    • Black, dress socks
    • 32 ounce Nalgene (non-BPA) Water Bottle
    • Sunscreen (30 SPF or higher)
    • Black Backpack
    • 3 Pillow Cases, white, to fit a standard size 20x26 pillow
    • 1 Pillow standard size 20x26
    • 2 pairs of white Thermal Underwear
    • 6 Flat Sheets, white, Extra Long twin size
    • 10 Bath Towels, white
    • 1 pair shoe trees
    • 1 pair flip-flops for shower
    • 1 white Soap Dish
    • School Supplies
    • Computer Lock for laptop computer
    • Emergency Rain Poncho
    • 1 Bathrobe
    • 3 White Handkerchiefs
    • Shoe Polish Kit
    • 1 Clothes Lint Brush
    • Toothbrushes and toothpaste
    • Pajamas or appropriate sleeping attire
    • 1 Hair Brush
    • 1 Comb; black
    • Shaving cream, razor, and if applicable razorblades
    • 4 White Washcloths
    • 1 pair Slippers
    • Electric Fan not to exceed 20" - UL approved
    • 1 pair of low-quarter, gym/multi-purpose/cross trainer athletic shoes
    • Flash drive, 4gb minimum
    • Networking patch cable (ethernet cord)
    • Personal hygiene items & toiletries
    • Laptop computer

While some of these items may be available for purchase in the Cadet Store, we recommend that students secure these items prior to arriving on campus. Please note also, that during plebe period, students are not permitted leave, so there will not be an opportunity to replenish these items.

Should you wish to purchase any of these items from the Cadet Store, you may use the VF Cadet Store Order Form 2016-2017.

Additionally, please complete the following, if you would like to establish a line of credit at the Cadet Store.

Order Your Textbooks
  • Book Information is available online for each of your courses, through the student portal.
  • Textbook information for your courses is available via your Student Portal!

Books may be ordered via the Cadet Store or ordered via other websites such as Amazon.com, BN.com, among others. When ordering books, please order by the ISBN indicated to ensure you have the correct edition.

Transfer Credit
  • If you earned prior college credits and wish to have them evaluated, send your official, sealed, transcripts to:

Submit Your Final Transcripts
  • Your final high school transcripts, AP scores, and/or college transcripts must be sent to the College Admissions Office upon your completion of high school.
Information Technology

All students are required to own and bring a laptop. Most current production laptops in the market will meet our requirements, however we encourage you to review our Academic Student Computer Standards, which will provide you details on recommended system specifications and standards while attending Valley Forge Military Academy & College.

Remember to complete your paperwork prior to your arrival and we will be able to expedite your move-in. Failure to do so will result in significant delays.

College Move-In and Arrival Dates

Please follow the dates and times below that pertain to you. Barracks assignments will be available via your e-student portal, and will also be e-mailed to you. We are currently working on assigning rooms for all deposited students.

Monday, August 8

  • Report for move-in at Eisenhower Hall from 9:00am - 11:00am
      • 9:00am-11:00am New Football, Soccer, Cross Country and Women's Volleyball athletes.
    • For your convenience, please park in the Eisenhower lot.

Monday, August 15

  • Report for move-in at Eisenhower Hall
    • 9:00am Band members
    • For your convenience, please park in the Eisenhower lot.

Wednesday, August 17

  • New College Corps of Cadet Students Report for check-in at Eisenhower Hall at the times listed by your barracks assignment This will be sent to you during the summer via your email address on file. ECP students be sure to bring your birth certificate and Social Security card.
    • 8:00am ECP and ROTC Parent Briefing with at 0800.
    • 9:00am Von Steuben
    • 10:00am Younghusband Hall
    • 11:00am Lafayette Hall

Parents, for planning purposes please note there will be an activities fair and the Oath Ceremony. Oath ceremony will begin at 4:00pm. Parents and family members will depart after the conclusion of the oath ceremony. You may park in the Parade Field lot during check-in.

Thursday, August 18

  • Academic Orientation begins followed by Initial Plebe Training for Cadets

Tuesday, August 25

  • Returning Cadets Report for check-in at Eisenhower Hall at the times listed by your housing assignment.
    • 9:00am-11:00am Younghusband and Martin Hall
    • 11:00am-1:00pm Von Steuben Hall
    • 1:00pm-3:00pm Lafayette Hall
    • 3:00pm Commuting Students and Returning Residential Students

  • First Day of Classes
Parents Association

Parent involvement and support is a key component to Cadet success. Please complete and return the 2016-17 Parents Association Membership Form.
