Valley Forge Military Academy and College has created this Privacy Statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. We make no effort to identify public users of our site. Information Gathering
When a visitor requests pages at any VFMAC site, our web servers automatically recognize the browser's domain name (e.g. www.netscape.com) and IP address (e.g. 255.255.255.255). We collect the domain names and IP addresses in order to aggregate demographic information on what pages users access and/or visit. We do not link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable. This means that user sessions will be tracked, but the users will remain anonymous. This information is collected solely for statistical purposes, to help diagnose problems with our server, and to further administer our website.
At times, we may request that you voluntarily supply us with personal information, for instance when submitting an application on-line or requesting information. We treat your e-mail address, telephone number, etc. as private information that might not ordinarily be known to others, and we do not share this information with third parties unless you have consented to such disclosure, such as with the password-protected on-line alumni community, or such disclosure is necessary to 1) comply with the law or legal process; 2) protect and defend our rights and property; 3) protect our applicants, students, faculty, staff, or the public from misuse or unauthorized use of the VFMAC website; 4) protect the personal safety or property of our applicants, students, faculty, staff, or the public; or 5) respond to service or technical issues regarding any transactions made by you through our website.
VFMAC only uses transaction service providers that have met the highest quality of set standards, and these providers ensure that when an individual submits payment information on-line, all transactions are encrypted via transit over the Internet.
Server Logs
We log http requests to our server. This means we know the originating IP address of a user agent requesting a URL. We also know the Referrer and User-Agent information accompanied with an http request. We regularly analyze the log files to determine which files are most requested and the previous site or agent which prompted the request. Logged information is kept indefinitely as administrative and research material; it is not disclosed outside of VFMAC host site personnel. Non-identifying statistics generated from these logs may be reported as part of research results.
