Bus Driver

Schedule: Valley Forge Military Academy and College is seeking an experienced Bus Driver with a flexible schedule who is able to work during the weekdays in the day/afternoon hours. The hours and days vary.

Department: Facilities and Services

Reporting to: Assistant Director of Facilities

Responsibilities:

  • Transport VFMA&C cadets, staff and faculty, and special event customers in a safe and courtesy manner.
  • Inspect bus before each trip.
  • Dispose of trash and sweep vehicle at the end of each trip.

Qualifications:

Education:     High School Diploma required.

Experience:    Minimum of three years driving experience.

Special: 

  • Valid state commercial driver’s license with passenger and school bus. Compliance with PA DOT/DOE regulations
  • Also must pass a substance abuse test and background checks.

Physical:        Must be able to physically operate a school bus.

RN Staff Nurse

General Description

Valley Forge Military Academy and College seeks a per diem RN staff nurse with the ability to work day, evening, weekend, and night shifts as needed. 4, 8, or 12 hour shifts available. Must work a minimum of 16 hours per month.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess cadets’ health status and implement care at sick call following established treatment protocols.
  • Provide emergency care to cadets and refer to appropriate consultant or treatment facility.
  • Maintain confidentiality of cadet health status and records in accordance with HIPPA regulations.
  • Administer medication/treatment orders as directed by school physician and/or nurse practitioner in a timely manner as per established protocols.
  • Provide direct nursing care to all cadets confined to the Health Center.
  • Document all care, treatment, and outcomes in the medical record in a timely, accurate and legible manner.
    Communicate/collaborate with school physician, nurse practitioner, and other health center staff to ensure prompt completion and follow up of treatment orders.
  • Provide health education on variety of topics pertinent to male adolescent population, including STD’s, substance use, stress, tobacco use, etc.
  • Administer immunizations and allergy injections as required.
  • Maintain accuracy of immunization records.
  • Participate in cadet physical examinations as directed.
  • Participate in cadet registration and move-in procedures as needed.
  • Provide nursing support at special functions as needed (parades, Parent’s Weekend, Alumni Weekend, etc.)
  • Maintain CPR certification.
  • Perform other duties at the discretion of Health Center Director.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education:
Successful completion of an accredited nursing program. Bachelor degree in nursing preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum three years nursing experience.
  • School nursing or pediatric nursing background preferred.
  • Creativity, energy, and enthusiasm in working with adolescents.

Other Qualifications:

  • Must successfully complete all mandated background checks to work in a school environment (may be completed within a proscribed time after starting).

TAC Officer

General Description

The TAC (Teach, Advise, and Counsel) Officer is responsible and accountable for the daily operations, training, dis­cipline, leadership development, management and overall supervision of the cadets assigned to their unit. Maintains a safety and secure learning and living environment and oversees appropriate behavior management in accordance with the published rules and regulations.  Is the primary point of contact for all actions associated with the cadets of their unit and are the primary counselor and role model to their cadets in shaping ethically mind citizen leaders of character.  TAC’s also have additional duties in support of  the Academy’s summer programs, training management and professional development.  They  are expected to develop both team and personal relationships with Cadets, built on trust and mutual respect and teach life skills.  TACs lead by precept and example and are the embodi­ment of all the school was established on by its founder.

Responsibilities:

  • LEADER: The TAC Officer is a leader in their assigned units and is responsible for what the entire unit does or fails to do. The Officer will be a model in appearance, conduct, language, bearing and leadership.  Devote them self to creating an orderly, disciplined, motivated and responsive envi­ronment with their unit which they can encourage, lead and teach the cadets.
  • COUNSELOR: Responsible for providing both performance counseling and developmental counseling to assist cadets in becoming better leaders of themselves and other member of the corps as needed but not less than monthly. Representing the institu­tion, may assume all the duties, liabili­ties and responsibilities of the lawful parent.  Develops working relationships with other staff member such  Chaplain’s Office, Guidance Department, Counseling Center and Health Center, as well as with other members of the Staff and Faculty, to provide the proper direction in a cadet’s life.
  • TRAINER: The TAC Officer will be knowledgeable of all phases of drill and capable of instructing School of the Soldier, Manual of Arms, Saber and Sword Manual and Physi­cal Training.  Responsible for the selection, training and development of the cadet leaders in his unit, ensuring each of them know what is expected of them and how they may successfully meet their leader­ship obligations.
  • DISCIPLINARIAN: The TAC Officer maintains good order and discipline by administering corrective action, on spot correction, leadership teaching, and upholding of standards.  Cadets who do not meet the standard are subject to disciplinary actions within their unit according to published regulations and directives.  TAC Officers are responsible for tracking, administering or recommending to the appropriate levels and boards for adjudication.
  • ADMINISTRATOR: The TAC Officer is responsible for insuring their unit meets all the administrative and operational daily inspections of their unit area to check for cleanliness, energy conservation and those inspection standards have been met.  Prepares work orders relating to barracks damage and uniform fair wear and tear and attribute responsibility of cost.
  • Perform officer in charge or other duties as directed by the Commandant of Cadets.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education:       Bachelor’s Degree, in Social Sciences, i.e. Education, Counseling, or Social Work.

Experience:      Prefer previous military, or law enforcement experience. Previous experience working with adolescent boys, (Middle/High School) and young College age adults (female/male) and/or background experience as a counselor within a residential/boarding school environment.

Other/Special:

  • Good oral and written communication skills with developmental leadership skills.
  • All Applicants will be background checked in accordance with Pennsylvania Dept. of Ed.
  • Computer skills and knowledge to work with basic programs
  • Willingness to work with Adolescent boys, or College age, young adults
  • Must be highly energetic, observant, and aware and must be an individual of integrity.
  • Flexible Schedule including nights and weekends

Cyber Security Professor

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for overall Valley Forge Military College (VFMC) Cyber Security Certificate Program of study including teaching and developing Cyber Defense curriculum.  Also serves as VFMC Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) as part of the Technology Committee making annual recommendations to improve protection of VFMC information system resources applying the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and updating the VFMC Cyber Security Plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with the College administration to ensure all offered VFMC CS courses have assigned instructors each semester
  • Ensures continued availability of appropriate virtual Cyber Security labs used for hands-on learning
  • Promotes Information Systems Security practices to implement people and policy controls in the VFMC Cyber Security Plan through awareness, training and tutorials, and security practice guides
  • Contributes to the efficient management and administration of the College information system resources to implement operational and physical controls in the VFMC Cyber Security Plan
  • Maintains academic records students participating in the VFMC Cyber Security Certificate Program
  • Provides students with access to Cyber Security practitioners including guest lecturers working in Cyber Security industry or government, and industry internship opportunities
  • Advises the student run VFMC Cyber Security Club focused on enhanced learning in Cyber Security beyond classroom information to plan, prepare, and represent VFMC in appropriate Cyber Security competitions
  • Advises VFMC Cyber Security students to ensure successful degree completion while completing the Cyber Security Certificate and informs the students about the academic rules, regulations, policies and standards

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related degree required; Ph.D preferred.  Must be professionally certified with at least one of the Cyber Security/Information Assurance certifications, such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, CEH, Security+, or completed a minimum of 15 credit hours of graduate coursework or appropriate Cyber Security experience could be considered in lieu of a professional certification.

Experience: Ideally, the candidate has at least 3 years of teaching experience and professional experience demonstrating expertise in Cyber Security from a multidisciplinary perspective.

  • Demonstrates excellent ability to teach and inspire
  • Well-organized, detail oriented, self-starter, ability to write and communicate effectively
  • Demonstrates ability to work as part of a team both internally and externally with VFMC community and academic outreach initiatives.

  • Overnight Camp runs June 25 – July 28
  • Life Guards work from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
