Parking

Parking is available in the General Lot on Radnor Street Road (adjacent to the football field) or in the South Lot on Radnor Road. Regardless as to which direction you turn off of Eagle Road onto Radnor Road/Radnor Street Road, you will reach one of these lots. Parking is not permitted on Fariston Road at any time.

Guest Parking

Parking is available in the General Parking Lot and Kuncl Parking Lot. Please help us maintain good relations with our neighbors by parking only in these designated parking areas. We specifically ask that you not park on Fariston Road (the street directly across from the main gate). There is no parking on this street, and the local police will ticket any automobile parked there. Special parking information and assistance for handicapped or elderly visitors can be arranged by contacting the Office of Parent Relations at (610) 989-1328.

When you return your cadet to campus, please use the General Parking Lot or Kuncl Parking Lot as your drop-off point. Pedestrian access to campus along Radnor Street Road is limited to the Chapel Gate. We urge you not to stop on Radnor Street Road for this purpose. We have locked the remaining gates along Radnor Street Road for the safety of our cadets and guests. The road is heavily traveled, and unfortunately, drivers do not heed the posted speed limits. Our past experience indicates that traffic backs up quickly, creating a potentially dangerous situation when cadets attempt to cross the road, particularly after dark.

Cadet Parking

Only specified College Cadets may have automobiles at Valley Forge. College sophomores who have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher and a semester average above 2.0 for the previous semester may have an automobile on campus. Freshmen may be granted automobile privileges if they are enrolled in the U.S. Army Simultaneous Membership Program. Freshmen cadets in their second semester of residence in the College who obtain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and who have a passing leadership grade from their TAC Officer may register an automobile during their second semester. Cadets must register their automobiles with the Commandant’s Department and park in designated areas. Unregistered automobiles or automobiles parked outside designated areas are subject to towing at the owner’s expense. Motorcycles or motor scooters are not permitted. Cadets who fail to maintain the appropriate GPA and academic standards for the semester are subject to having their automobile privileges suspended or revoked. Cadets should not use hand held cell phones while driving. Violations of the parking policies described in Staff Memorandum 80-26 revised 25 August 2008 (a copy can be found in Lee Hall) will be handled in a manner specified in the chart of infraction measures (including ticketing, adhesive warning stickers, booting, fines and towing) maintained by the Director of Facilities & Services.

Automobile Privileges—VF5D cadets possessing a driver’s license are prohibited from using their vehicles during the week. They may drive a vehicle solely to depart for weekend leave and return to campus. The vehicle must have a VFD school parking permit. Only after providing parental permission to a TAC Officer and solely for the purpose of departing and returning for leave, will a VF5D cadet provide transportation to a boarding cadet.

Commuter Students

Commuter students must register their vehicle and can do so via the online vehicle registration form. This is for commuting students only. Once registered, you will receive a hangtag. Students who register early can receive the tag via mail, otherwise students should see Dean of Student Services in Sorley House to pick up their hangtag.

Employee Parking

Employees should refer to Staff Memo 80-26 via the VFMAC Intranet for the full policy.

Parking Permit

All employee personally owned vehicles (POV’s) that will be operated on campus must have a VFMA&C parking permit issued by the Department of Facilities & Services (DFS) at ext. 1353; cadet vehicles must have a parking permit issued by the Commandant’s Department. Those employees that have been designated reserved parking spaces will be issued additional parking placard.

Parking Areas
  1. General Parking, South Campus, Kuncl, and Hart Halls Parking Areas: Open to staff, faculty and guests of the Academy and College. Two (2) handicapped reserved spaces are available in General Parking.
  2. College cadets who are authorized vehicles will park them only in assigned spaces in South Campus Parking Lot whenever their vehicles are on campus. The Commandant’s Department will assign and maintain these spaces.
  3. Lafayette Hall Parking Area: Open to staff, faculty and guests of the Academy. A small quantity of numbered spaces is reserved. Two (2) handicapped reserved spaces are available. See attached list of reserved spaces.
  4. Mellon Hall Parking Area: This small, constrained area between Mellon Hall, Medenbach Hall and the Chapel is restricted to parking for handicapped visitors, official visitors to the institution, and delivery/service vehicles. A permit issued by the DFS must authorize any other short-term parking. An adjacent parking area (8 numbered spaces) is reserved during normal working hours. See attached list of reserved spaces.
  5. Bower Hall Service Area: The area behind Bower Hall is a service and delivery area and must be kept open for delivery vehicles, refuse pick up and access to the DFS Equipment Shed. Parking is not authorized in this area at any time.
  6. Reserved Parking Spaces: These spaces are marked clearly on the pavement. The reserved space is in effect Monday through Friday, 0600 to 2000 hours.

Parking will be enforced by the DFS (Ext. 1353/1354/1350) during normal working hours, Monday through Friday. During evenings and weekends parking enforcement will be performed by security team of the Commandant’s Department (Ext. 1258). The Commandant’s Department is also responsible for maintaining policy and enforcement of cadet POV’s at all times.

The best way to get a feel for what Valley Forge offers to our students is by visiting post.

We offer the opportunity for you to tour campus during one of our many open house events, during our Saturday visits, or by scheduling a day and time that is convenient for you. We can even arrange for a shadow day with one of our cadets who is in the same field of study you intend to pursue, or with one who is part of an athletic team or extracurricular activity that you are interested in joining.

For those who want to know more about Valley Forge, but are unable to visit the school, we offer you a virtual tour of the facilities on campus.
