These costs encompass tuition and fees, room and dining, required personal supplies, laundry and dry-cleaning, haircuts, shoe repair, and health care.
Other expenses include uniforms, textbooks, personal allowance, and paid activities, such as SCUBA training, Judo, driver’s education, or membership in artillery battery (E Battery). A fee is charged for Health Center care that lasts more than 24 hours and requires a medical management plan.

A Valley Forge Military Academy education is an investment in your son’s future, and we want to help you make that investment most prudently through our variety of grants, scholarships, payment plans, and financial assistance programs.
We have seen many families successfully combine their current assets and resources with loan options, merit scholarships, and/or need-based aid. We suggest you start exploring your options as soon as you apply for your child’s admission into the Academy.
We also recommend that you review the wide range of resources that SSS has put together to help families with the financial aid process.
Cory Stein Memorial Scholarship – This grant and scholarship supports the efforts of academically able students who are good citizens and who seek leadership roles in their communities and the world. Please see the Stein Scholarship page for more information and to apply.
Ethel Mae Hocker Foundation Scholarship – This scholarship provides an education opportunity to a deserving student who meet academic criteria and have demonstrated good citizenship and leadership.
Merit Academic Scholarship – This award is offered to applicants who have consistently demonstrated academic excellence in their current school. All applicants are automatically reviewed for eligibility for this scholarship. Eligibility is based on academic records such as transcripts, standardized testing results, and additional official academic documentation.
Sons of Veteran Scholarship – This award is offered automatically to applicants who have a sibling, parent or grandparent who is a veteran of any branch of the United States Armed Forces.
Service Day Scholarship – This award is offered to applicants who have a mother or father who is currently a first responder. In order to receive this award, there needs to proof of parent/guardian working as a first responder.
Legacy Alumni Scholarship – This award is offered to applicants who have a sibling, cousin, parent, grandparent, uncle, or aunt who are Alumni of Valley Forge Military Academy and College.
Regimental Band Scholarship – This award is offered to applicants who have experience within a musical program or who have an interest in being part of the Regimental Band. Potential recipients must audition in order to be eligible for the award.
Endowed and Annual Scholarships – Valley Forge Military Academy has many donors who have established endowed scholarship funds to support both new and returning cadets. Each award has specific eligibility requirements and criteria to be selected. Endowed Scholarship recipients are chosen by a panel. Please note:
Boy Scouts of America Award – This award is offered to applicants who have a history of being part of the Boy Scouts of America. These young men exhibit qualities that Valley Forge Military Academy wants to enroll, and therefore are included in our scholarship pool. The student must have a certificate or letter from his scout master stating he is currently in the Boy Scouts of America. It is highly encouraged that the letter or certificate be submitted at the same time the admissions application is submitted.
Private Scholarships – Some organizations offer scholarships for elementary and secondary education based on family background, memberships in clubs and associations, and other variable factors. Check your local library for publications and browse the internet for sources of private scholarships. Scholarship searching services should typically be free of charge, therefore beware of scholarship searches that have fees attached.
Scholarships for Pennsylvania Residents
There are two special scholarship programs sponsored by the State of Pennsylvania. Your admissions counselor will discuss these programs with you during the application process. The funding for each of these programs is limited to the donations made in that year.
Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit Program (OSTC) – To receive Opportunity Scholarship funding from VFMA, an eligible applicant must be a school age student residing within the attendance boundary of a low-achieving school, who is a resident of Pennsylvania, who is enrolled at Valley Forge Military Academy, and who is a member of a household with an annual household income of not more than $60,000, with the exception of an additional income allowance of $12,000 permitted for the student and for each other dependent (as defined by the IRS) living within the same household.
Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) – To receive EITC funding from VFMA, an eligible applicant must be a school age student who is a resident of Pennsylvania, who is enrolled at Valley Forge Military Academy, and who is a member of a household with an annual household income of not more than $60,000, with the exception of an additional income allowance of $12,000 permitted for the student and for each other dependent (as defined by the IRS) living within the same household.
