Academy Financial Aid Coordinator & Admin Support

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

The Financial Aid Coordinator is responsible for determining financial aid eligibility for middle and high school students, providing financial aid counseling, and outreaching to current and prospective students, as well as, assisting in the overall operation of the Academy Admissions in providing admin support for the Academy Counselors. The Financial Aid Coordinator provides aid in helping families face-to-face and over the phone in completion of financial aid, as well as, the initial point of contact for perspective families, handing the main line transfer to admissions counselors, and giving out leads to admissions counselors (call-in and website RFI). The Financial Aid Coordinator reports to the Director of Academy Admissions and the Dean of Academy Enrollment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist with data entry, mailings, printing acceptance letters, award letters, and student documents, reviewing documents, and special projects as assigned.
  2. Assist with Sallie Mae and Your Tuition Solution loan distribution.
  3. Advise families regarding financial aid opportunities offered by the institution.
  4. Coordinate and maintain attendance and scholarship reports.
  5. Ensure accurate and timely disbursement of all funding sources.
  6. Explain institutional policies as they relate to financial aid eligibility.
  7. Maintain current and prospective student records through data entry and record reviews.
  8. Manage Endowed Scholarship budgeting and process, including the foundation reports.
  9. Meeting with prospective families to review financial aid packages and to answer any questions.
  10. Promptly answering and returning e-mails, in-person appointments, phone calls, and walk-ins from prospective and current students and parents.
  11. Responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and processing for new and returning students packaged scholarships.
  12. Sending reminders to parents for missing school documents, unsubmitted Financial Aid, and all other required documents that are needed.
  13. Taking deposits over the phone and receiving checks through the mail.
  14. Tracking awards, discount rate, and reenrollment.
  15. Tracking and updating student information in CAMs and Zoho systems.
  16. Zoho lead distribution to Admission Counselors. Participates in professional development activities relating to student financial aid-related issues, as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business preferred; 0-2 years working in Financial Aid setting; experience in accounting, business, or finance with experience in a higher education academic environment preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.
  • Ability to learn CAMs and Zoho systems.
  • Ability to listen to customers (e.g. parents, staff, and students, etc.) and to understand and respond positively to their requests.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to set ones’ own priorities and work schedule.
  • Attention to detail and a professional demeanor.
  • Build trust with customers and be a trusted source.
  • Excellent customer service skills in regard to working families and students.
  • Proven ability of coordinating, multi-tasking organizational, time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office software (including MS Excel, Outlook, and Word).
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Archery Instructor

The instructor will teach the basic techniques of archery, including steps to shooting, range safety, archery games, techniques, and bow anatomy.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have experience in teaching archery in a group setting.

Day Camp Counselor

Day camp Counselors will function as an integral part of the Valley Forge Summer Camp team. The co-ed day camp is for children ages 6-14 years old. Counselors will report to the Day Camp Director and will adhere to all rules and codes of conduct set forth by VFMAC.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High energy and a love for children.
  • Experience coaching youth athletes in a wide variety of fitness activities.
  • The ability to communicate verbally to individuals and small groups.
  • Create a safe environment in which all campers; regardless of age or physical abilities can have a positive camp experience.
  • Can safely lift and move 40-50 pounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Elementary education major or teacher.
  • Previous summer camp experience.

Lifeguard

JOB DESCRIPTION: Valley Forge Summer Camp is seeking enthusiastic, energetic and mature individuals to serve as lifeguards. This position will report to the Pool Supervisor and will adhere to all rules and codes of conduct set forth by VFMAC.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Maintain a safe environment for our pool.
  • Most have a current lifeguard certification.
  • Communicate with campers and camp staff.
  • Perform swim tests for campers.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by either Pool Supervisor or Summer Camp Director.

Lifeguard will be responsible for the guarding and safety of members within the facility, and enforcing all pool policies and procedures. Applicant must be responsible, punctual and task oriented. Applicant must also be able to communicate with children ages 3-17 and adult members of staff.

Math Instructor

JOB DESCRIPTION: Valley Forge Summer Camp is looking for a qualified Math Instructor for their academic enrichment elective program located on the grounds of Valley Forge Military Academy & College. Instructors are needed for a 5 week duration, June 18th – July 20, 2018 and their schedule will be from 8 am-noon daily. Instructors will teach in a small group setting, no more than 8 per class, and must be comfortable teaching children between the ages of 6-17 years old.

Competitive salary and a fun work atmosphere. The Math Instructor must be adaptable and provide the camp office with a copy of their lesson plans. Instructor will also do a pre and post evaluation on each student enrolled in the academic enrichment elective program.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Attend all required training.
  • Must be CPR and First Aid Certified.
  • Safely lift and move 40-50 lbs.

Overnight Camp Counselor

JOB DESCRIPTION: Valley Forge Summer Camps are seeking highly motivated and passionate Overnight Camp Counselors for the 2018 Camp season! Counselors will function as an integral part of the Valley Forge Summer Camp team working with boys ages 9-17 years old. Valley Forge Military Summer Camp counselors will work with campers and assist in coaching them in a variety of sports, leadership and fitness activities.

Overnight camp counselors will report to the Camp Commandant and will adhere to all rules and codes of conduct set forth by VFMAC.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current CPR and First Aid.
  • Must be able to live on campus between June 16-July 20, 2018.
  • Experience coaching youth athletes in a wide variety of sports and fitness activities.
  • Knowledge of child development and willingness to work with children of all ages and abilities.
  • The physical ability to perform the sports and training sessions they will be leading and modify to all levels.
  • The ability to communicate verbally to individuals and small groups.
  • Assist campers with goal setting.
  • Create a safe environment in which all campers; regardless of age or fitness level, can strive towards achieving their fitness goals.
  • Can safely lift and move 40-50 pounds.

Overnight Security

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for the safety and security of all personnel and property of Valley Forge Military Academy & College during SUMMER CAMP. Enforce camper regulations and assist in supervision alongside the counselors and other camp personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Maintenance of good conduct, law and order
  • Monitor security, safety, and fire prevention measures.
  • Assist campers and handle emergencies
  • Take proper action to diffuse situations as warranted.
  • Authorized to issue instructions, directions, and order to all Valley Forge personnel including campers and visitors.
  • Have authority over campers in conduct of official duties.
  • Report any incidents directly to camp director and camp commandant.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma/Associates Degree required.
Experience: Closed Caption Television (CCTV) preferred.

Other/Special:

  • Good communication skills with developmental leadership skills.
  • Willingness to work with young adults.
  • Must be highly energetic, observant, and aware and must be an individual of integrity.

Paintball Instructor

Valley Forge Military Summer Camps are seeking highly motivated and passionate Paintball Instructor for the upcoming 2018 camp season! The Paintball Instructor will function as an integral part of the Valley Forge Military Academy and College Summer Camp Team. The instructor will teach the basic techniques of paintball, including steps to shooting, range safety, games and techniques.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Guide groups of campers through full participation in camp Paintball programming.
  • Maintain a clean camp and activity area.
  • Support counseling staff in their supervision of campers.
  • Maintain program equipment and area to ensure all aspects are safe for campers and staff to participate.
  • Perform an inventory of supplies and equipment at the close of each camp session, report any needs to direct line supervisor.
  • Facilitate large and small group activities.
  • Monitor the health, well-being and safety of campers.
  • Abide by and enforce camp policies.
  • Communicate with campers, families and staff in a mature and professional manner at all times.
  • Participate in evening programs.
  • Attend staff training.
  • Ability to live on-site while camp is in session.
  • Clean camp areas after programming.
