Emergency Information

VFMAC is a residential campus, and every effort will be made to continue under normal operation.

School Closing Information

As we have experienced in past winter seasons, if weather conditions are unfavorable, the emergency weather notification procedures will be activated.

When there is a concern or threat of inclement weather, the school administration will notify staff, faculty and cadets of the procedures that will be put in place during the weather event.

Notification Procedures:

VFMAC Website

Notifications will be posted on the VFMAC website no later than 5:30AM.

Alert Now Employee Notification

The Department of Human Resources will launch the “Alert Now” notification system with updates on the status of school openings, closings, or delayed openings no later than 5:30AM. To receive these notifications, please be sure you have provided Human Resources with your most up to date contact information (i.e. cell phone, home phone, and/or personal email addresses.)

Throughout the day, emails will be sent via the VFMAC Employee Distribution List with updates on the status of campus.

Full Closure

If we require a full school closure, essential personnel will be required to report to campus.

Two Hour Delay

In the situation where a two-hour delayed opening is activated, classes for both the Academy and College will begin at 10:00 AM. Staff and Faculty are expected to arrive by this time.

#ForgeFactFriday: #VFMA was founded on the grounds of what had been the Devon Park Hotel. The first semester began in Sept. 1928 with LTG, then CPT, Milton G. Baker as superintendent and founder, a staff of thirteen, and an enrollment of 117 cadets, which was considered to be very large for a newly-opened military school. A disastrous fire occurred a few short months later in Jan. 1929 and VFMA moved to its current location at the corner of Eagle and Radnor Street Roads. #VFhistory #AllSummerLong ... See MoreSee Less
