Michael Lombardi, Former NFL GM and Now Author, to Deliver Graduation Address
We are proud to announce that former NFL general manager and now author Michael Lombardi will deliver the keynote address during the graduation ceremony for the 91st Corps of Cadets on May 23, 2019.
Lombardi, an esteemed graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy’s class of 1977, has gained great recognition and prominence over the past 30 years within the world of professional football. He recently published a book titled, “Gridiron Genius: A Master Class in Winning Championships and Building Dynasties in the NFL,” which highlights his insight into the unwavering commitment and attention to detail it takes to win in the NFL.
A resident of Ocean City, N.J., Lombardi has worked as an NFL executive with the San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, Philadelphia Eagles and Oakland Raiders alongside NFL coaching legends including Bill Walsh and Al Davis. Most recently, he served as an internal consultant for Bill Belichick in the New England Patriots’ front office and helped lead them to three of their six Super Bowl championships. Lombardi writes a column for The Athletic and has his own podcast, “The GM Shuffle” on the Cadence Podcast Network.
Michael’s insight into the characteristics of great coaches and leaders, as well as his first-hand knowledge of the hard work it takes to succeed, will provide valuable life-lessons for our graduating cadets as they go on to college, the military or into the job market.
The VFMAC graduation ceremony will be held on May 23, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. on the Parade Field. In the event of inclement weather, graduation will be moved to the Chapel. If the ceremony is moved indoors where seating is limited, each family will be provided a set number of tickets.
