Academy Spanish Teacher

POSITION TITLE:                            Spanish Teacher

 GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

Instruct high school students using various pedagogical methods. Prepare course objectives and outlines of study following curriculum guidelines and the requirements of the academy. Assign lessons and assesses student progress, records results, and issues regular reports to administration. In support of the college preparatory academic program, to provide instruction and other academic activities that will enable the students to succeed in the next grade or higher level of education. As part of the boarding school model of education, to coach, advice, counsel, support or otherwise help, encourage and motivate cadets to achieve success both inside and outside of the classroom. In support of the character development program, is to serve as a motivating role model and to provide instruction to assist the cadets in their development of strong moral and ethical values. As part of the militarily structured system, promote the establishment and maintenance of high standards of cadet decorum and discipline.

Responsibilities:

  • Instruct assigned class schedule.
  • Study Hall Supervision as scheduled.
  • Contribute to the efficient management and administration of the Academy as required.
  • Inform the students about the academic rules, regulations, policies and standards.
  • Participate and attend in Faculty Meetings, Department Meetings and In-Service Days.
  • Attendance is mandatory for Academy & College Professional Development Day.
  • Attend Opening Day Ceremony, Graduation Day Ceremony, Concerts, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and other events as required.
  • Support the development of Cadets outside of the classroom in accordance with your personal plan of involvement as approved by the Headmaster.
  • Maintain academic records, grades and lesson plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Headmaster.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree with PA Teaching Certificate required.

Experience: Ideally, the candidate would have a minimum of three years teaching High School, professional experience in the Math field.

Other/Special:

  • Demonstrate ability to work as part of a team in a positive, constructive manner.
  • The candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office, and Outlook.
  • Well-organized, detail oriented, self-starter, ability to write and communicate effectively, works well under pressure.

Academy Financial Aid Coordinator & Admin Support

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

The Financial Aid Coordinator is responsible for determining financial aid eligibility for middle and high school students, providing financial aid counseling, and outreaching to current and prospective students, as well as, assisting in the overall operation of the Academy Admissions in providing admin support for the Academy Counselors. The Financial Aid Coordinator provides aid in helping families face-to-face and over the phone in completion of financial aid, as well as, the initial point of contact for perspective families, handing the main line transfer to admissions counselors, and giving out leads to admissions counselors (call-in and website RFI). The Financial Aid Coordinator reports to the Director of Academy Admissions and the Dean of Academy Enrollment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist with data entry, mailings, printing acceptance letters, award letters, and student documents, reviewing documents, and special projects as assigned.
  2. Assist with Sallie Mae and Your Tuition Solution loan distribution.
  3. Advise families regarding financial aid opportunities offered by the institution.
  4. Coordinate and maintain attendance and scholarship reports.
  5. Ensure accurate and timely disbursement of all funding sources.
  6. Explain institutional policies as they relate to financial aid eligibility.
  7. Maintain current and prospective student records through data entry and record reviews.
  8. Manage Endowed Scholarship budgeting and process, including the foundation reports.
  9. Meeting with prospective families to review financial aid packages and to answer any questions.
  10. Promptly answering and returning e-mails, in-person appointments, phone calls, and walk-ins from prospective and current students and parents.
  11. Responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and processing for new and returning students packaged scholarships.
  12. Sending reminders to parents for missing school documents, unsubmitted Financial Aid, and all other required documents that are needed.
  13. Taking deposits over the phone and receiving checks through the mail.
  14. Tracking awards, discount rate, and reenrollment.
  15. Tracking and updating student information in CAMs and Zoho systems.
  16. Zoho lead distribution to Admission Counselors. Participates in professional development activities relating to student financial aid-related issues, as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business preferred; 0-2 years working in Financial Aid setting; experience in accounting, business, or finance with experience in a higher education academic environment preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.
  • Ability to learn CAMs and Zoho systems.
  • Ability to listen to customers (e.g. parents, staff, and students, etc.) and to understand and respond positively to their requests.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to set ones’ own priorities and work schedule.
  • Attention to detail and a professional demeanor.
  • Build trust with customers and be a trusted source.
  • Excellent customer service skills in regard to working families and students.

TAC Officer

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

The TAC (Teach, Advise, and Counsel) Officer is responsible and accountable for the daily operations, training, discipline, leadership development, management and overall supervision of the cadets assigned to their unit. Maintains a safe and secure learning and living environment as well as oversees appropriate behavior management in accordance with the published rules and regulations. Is the primary point of contact for all actions associated with the cadets of their unit and are the primary counselor and role model to their cadets in shaping ethically mind citizen leaders of character. TAC’s also have additional duties in support of the Academy’s summer programs, training management and professional development. They are expected to develop both team and personal relationships with Cadets, built on trust and mutual respect and teach life skills. TACs lead by precept and example and are the embodiment of all the school was established on by its founder. The Barrack’s Advisor is responsible for advising, coaching and guiding the cadets who reside in their assigned barracks as they negotiate their cadet responsibilities. This includes but is not limited to academic, tactical, community, VFMAC, peer, family and personal responsibilities and challenges.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • LEADER: The TAC Officer is a positive role model and leader in their assigned units and is responsible for what the entire unit does or fails to do. The Officer is a model in appearance, conduct, language, bearing and leadership. Creates an orderly, disciplined, motivated and responsive environment with their unit which they can continually encourage, lead and teach the cadets. Officers must demonstrate a strong sense of purpose in molding today’s youth into mature goal oriented citizens focused on future success in today’s society.
  • COUNSELOR: Responsible for providing both performance and developmental counseling to assist cadets in becoming better leaders themselves and other member of the corps as needed but not less than monthly. Representing the institution, may assume all the duties, liabilities and responsibilities of the lawful parent. Develops working relationships with other staff member such Chaplain’s Office, Guidance Department, Counseling Center and Health Center, as well as with other members of the Staff and Faculty, to provide the proper direction in a cadet’s life.
  • ADVISOR: The TAC Officer maintains good order though positive interactions and gives guidance by administering appropriate corrective action, in the moment coaching and mentoring, leadership teachings while upholding standards. Cadets who do not meet the standard are subject to disciplinary actions within their unit according to published regulations and directives. TAC Officers are responsible for tracking, administering or recommending to the appropriate levels and boards for adjudication.
  • TRAINER: The TAC Officer will be knowledgeable of all phases of drill and capable of instructing School of the Soldier, Manual of Arms, Saber and Sword Manual and Physical Training. Responsible for the selection, training and development of the cadet leaders within the unit, ensuring each cadet knows the expectation, goal and is supported to meet their leadership obligations.
  • ADMINISTRATOR: The TAC Officer is responsible for insuring their unit meets all the administrative and operational daily inspections of their unit area to check for cleanliness, energy conservation and those inspection standards have been met. Prepares work orders relating to barracks damage and uniform fair wear and tear and attribute responsibility of cost. Perform officer in charge or other duties as directed by the Commandant of Cadets.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:             Bachelor’s Degree, in Social Sciences, i.e. Education, Counseling, or Social Work; or equivalent.

Experience:         Prior employment and/or life experience that demonstrates strong leadership, sound judgement, team building and individual initiative abilities. Prefer previous senior military or law enforcement experience with company command experience. Previous experience working with adolescent boys, (Middle/High School) and young College aged adults (female/male) and/or background experience as a counselor within a residential/boarding school environment.

Other/Special:

  • Good oral and written communication skills with developmental leadership skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with cadets and other members of VFMAC
  • Must comply with background checks in accordance with Pennsylvania Dept. of Ed.
  • Computer skills and knowledge to work with basic programs

Athletic Training Coach

Position:  Athletics Training Coach – Valley Forge Military Academy & College
Schedule: Full Time position (10 Month)
Department: Athletics
Reporting to: Director of Athletics
Education: Bachelor’s Degree/Master’s preferred

General Description: Provides athletic training services to 10 high school sports teams and 12 collegiate sports teams.

GENERAL:

  • Will be knowledgeable of, and abide by, all VFMA&C policies and requirements.
  • Will oversee all day-to-day operations of various athletic programs.
  • Will work with the Commandant and Tactical staff to assure student-athlete compliance and close cooperation with the regimental system and responsibilities.
  • Develop and execute strategic plan for the various programs that is integrated into the institutions strategic plan to include assessment, and evaluation of coaches, players, programs.
  • Assist Athletic Director in managing all levels of athletic events, meets, matches throughout the school year.
  • Administrative and other duties may be assigned.

STUDENT ATHLETE:

  • Will use this role as a teaching opportunity to reinforce the core values of Valley Forge Military Academy & College: academic excellence, character development, physical development, personal motivation and leadership.
  • Will work with coaches and staff for each athlete achieve according to their respective level of ability and performance.
  • Manage assistant coaches to coordinate any academic support and monitor academic progress
  • Develop an off season strength and development program and a Summer Camp cycle in coordination with the Commandants Department and Summer Camp schedule.

Experience:

Candidates must be NATABOC certified and be in good professional standing. They must also be PA State licensed or eligible. A Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience is required. Additional qualifications include critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a dynamic and challenging environment and take appropriate action. Must possess good oral and written communication skills, the ability to work effectively with coaches, student-athletes, and other members of the school community; and adhering to the standards of professional and ethical behavior of the NJCAA and PIAA.
